The European Union is one of the world's leading economies in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. At the end of 2019, the European Commission introduced a package of measures called the European Green Deal, the main goal of which is to make the EU economy carbon neutral by 2050. In line with the EU target indicators, Hungary is also committed to reducing GHG emissions.

One of the priority areas of the EU's 2021-2027 programming period is climate protection, the fight against global climate change. Our cities have a major role to play in this, as they can achieve the most effective and visible results in the field. There are many areas of urban life – economy, mobility, energy consumption – that can be redesigned with sustainability in mind to make our cities more climate- and environment-friendly.

Recognizing that the fight against climate change and climate protection is playing an increasingly important role in urban development, the MEGAKOM team  provides cities with expert assistance in developing local, urban-scale climate protection analyses, climate protection and mobility strategies and action plans. In addition to these professional tasks, our company is also committed to raising public awareness and implementing bottom-up climate protection initiatives. With this in mind, our employees took part in the organization of the first Climathon in Nyíregyháza in 2019, an initiative we would like to turn into a tradition in the future.
