The activities of MEGAKOM – whether they focus on urban development, job creation, climate protection or other sectors – are covered by a well-defined framework of European Union programmes and directives. In order to effectively support our clients in achieving their goals, we need to have up-to-date information on EU policies, which (among other things) determine exactly what for and under what conditions it is possible and worthwhile to seek funding, which areas and sectors we should focus on. However, we can achieve an even greater impact: knowing the national and international context, trends, and needs, we can also influence European – and Hungarian – development directions and processes.

All this is helped by the fact that MEGAKOM has been a key player in the development and evaluation of EU-funded programmes for decades. Our experts have been involved in the design of dozens of national operational programmes and cross-border programmes, in the ex ante, on-going and ex post evaluation, as well as strategic environmental assessment of such programmes – both before and after our accession to the European Union. This not only has an impact on the interventions identified at European and national level, but also provides up-to-date and useful information to cities, businesses, and other development actors, which is particularly important both in addressing the current crisis and preparing for 2021-2027.
